This presentation will discuss the role of epistemic arrogance and its related epistemic humility as the United States confronted the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to the present. It will highlight limitations of modern epidemiology, including the research questions asked, the availability of data, and the interpretation and communication of the analyses to policymakers and the public. It will discuss the challenges of implementing public health interventions, and how to plan for a healthier future.
